The constantly changing face of Madison Avenue has another new feature as luxury Italian menswear brand Isaia has opened its much-heralded New York flagship at 819 Madison Avenue between 68th and 69th Streets.  Located at the former site of Donna Karan, the 5,400-square-foot shop is the company’s second standalone store in the U.S., following this summer’s launch of its Beverly Hills location. “Opening our first stores in the U.S. is a huge moment for our brand and for the Isaia family,” said Gianluca Isaia, the company’s global CEO, in a statement.

The new store boasts 30 percent of exclusive product, including tailored clothing, sportswear and accessories.  To enhance its already impressive Made to Measure program, there will be a collection of 112 try-on garments on hand.  Men who indulge in custom tailoring will do so in a shop encased in glass, allowing customers to see the company’s master tailors at work.

The store, created by architect Martino Ferrrari in collaboration with Neapolitan interior designer Alberta Saladino, harkens back to the company’s history, as well as the history of Naples – with many of the key items in the shop coming from Naples’ Esprit Nouveau ‘900 art gallery. In addition, there’s a custom-made chandelier from designer Jacopo Foggini, handcrafted in Isaia’s signature red, a red lacquer piano, gold-engraved Fontana Arte mirrors, a vintage pool tables and a Campari bar.  The shop also boasts an outdoor garden.
