Jeff Block Named President of Slate & Stone
Slate & Stone, a three-year-old New York-based sportswear brand, has hired Jeff Block as its president.
The brand’s menswear categories include knit and woven tops, bottoms, outerwear and footwear. Tailored pieces and accessories will be launched next.
Block joins Slate & Stone from Perry Ellis International, where he was VP of sales for several emerging brands since May 2013. Block was VP of sales at PEI’s Original Penguin division from 2004 to 2008 and VP at Cockpit USA from 2008 to 2013.
“Today’s men’s shopping environment is different from anything any of us has ever experienced,” said Block in a statement. “The modern luxury, contemporary consumer expects a more in-depth, cultural connection with the brand before he purchases. My excitement on the merchandising side for Slate & Stone will include a more prestige and lifestyle driven point of view.”
“We’re so pleased to have Jeff on board,” said Slate & Stone principal Gary Jacobs. “His background with some of the biggest names in contemporary menswear is a perfect fit for our brand, which is poised to take its own eminent position in the industry. We’re looking forward to Jeff’s guidance, as well as to having his charm and wit on our team.”
Slate & Stone was founded by creative director Jeffrey Jacobs in 2012. It is sold at Nordstrom and slateandstoneclothing.com.
