LACOSTE TO RELASE 85TH ANNIVERSARY CAPSULE COLLECTION
In honor of its 85th anniversary, French sportswear brand Lacoste will pay tribute to the inventiveness of its founder, René Lacoste, and to its history by reissuing a selection of polo shirts and emblematic items from its archives.
This capsule collection, which launches next month in all Lacoste stores and on lacoste.com, consists of 15 reissues – eight unisex polos, three dresses, a pair of shoes and three bags – all of which pay tribute from all decades from the 1930s to the 2000s. These pieces will also take on contemporary colors borrowed from the company’s spring/summer 2018 range and give new life to the legendary “La Chemise Lacoste” label.
Highlights of the collection include a close-fitting cotton interlock polo, which is inspired by the 1930s, which has a cut-and-sew collar, a folded placket, a patch pocket on the chest and sleeves slightly longer than those of the current L.12.12 polo shirt; a long-sleeved sports garment, inspired by the 1950s, with a single-rib collar that comes in green crepe fleece embellished with double ribbing at the cuffs and hem; and two backpacks and a belt bag, inspired by the 1990s, made of piqué coated canvas embossed with the vintage Lacoste logo and feature a color black design.
