Las Vegas Shows Open for Business
Las Vegas market week gets into full swing today with the opening of MAGIC, Project and several smaller shows in several venues.
The Exclusive show got off to a strong start on Sunday in Las Vegas, as the only retail men’s show to start prior to the Monday opening of MAGIC, Project and other events. The exhibit area on the fifth floor of the Venetian was somewhat smaller than past shows, but very elegant and well received by buyers and exhibitors.
This is the last run for the Exclusive. The show was recently purchased by Business Journals, Inc., the parent company of MR Magazine and a major trade show producer in the apparel industry. The next show will be renamed MRket and relaunched in the main ballroon of the Venetian, adjacent to the entrance of Sands Expo Center.
The new owners were on the show floor Sunday and at a reception at V-Bar at the Venetian last night. According to CEO Britton Jones, they plan to increase the size of MRket compared to Exclusive, add many new amenities and promote the show heavily through MR Magazine as well as other industry media, direct mail and their retail development staff. Lizette Chin, currently Advertising Director of MR, will become Show Director of MRket. Larry Hymes, one of the owners of the Exclusive, will stay on as Sales Director of MRket.
