LE TIGRE EXPANDS INTO SWIMWEAR AND KNITS

by Stephen Garner

In late summer, Le Tigre expanded into swim, focusing on rash guards and swimming shorts with fun bright prints reflecting the brand’s playful attitude.

This holiday, the brand is launching sweater knits with a “RetroNew” approach, playing up classic silhouettes with modern graphic applications like chenille patches and embroidered logos.

“We are excited to branch out into the swimwear and knitwear markets,” said Ike S. Franco, CEO. “We’ve seen continued interest and repeat orders from major retailers, and they’ve been eager to continue expanding on the Le Tigre lifestyle.”

“In the next year, we plan to continue the introduction of new category offerings with best-in-class licensees, distributing the product domestically and internationally,” added Simon Douek, senior VP of licensing.

One year into its re-launch, Le Tigre categories include its core apparel collection, handbags, hats, and now swimwear and knits. The brand also has footwear, outerwear, underwear and hosiery categories in the works for 2020.

“We’re also exploring creative collaborations, and plan to expand into a variety of new sales channels, including our e-commerce site launching this fall,” stated Joseph Gualtiere, director of marketing.

With an actively engaged audience of creative changemakers, entrepreneurs, and influencers, Le Tigre will continue to highlight its “RetroNew” aesthetic across a variety of channels.

The spring 2020 collection will be shown at MAGIC in Las Vegas August 12th – 14th. The Le Tigre collection will be available at Project’s NOW in booth #62314, and Le Tigre swim and sweater knits will be available at Project’s District in booth #62308.
