LEVI’S LAUNCHES BLUR BAND TEE COLLECTION
Levi’s has launched a collaboration with the British band Blur. Known widely since their breakout single There’s No Other Way, they have applied the cultural legacy of the band with Levi’s in a collection that includes a white tee with the Blur logo on a blue background, a black tee with the logo on a red background, and a sea blue shirt that features a print of the artwork for the band’s album The Great Escape.
For background on the band, Blur announced their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur’s Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree went on to further revolutionize the sound of English popular music with their second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993) – a record that acted as both foretaste and catalyst of a British pop renaissance whose impact pushed outwards into the worlds of art, cinema and even politics. Five successive UK #1 albums including Parklife (1994), The Great Escape (1995), Think Tank (2003), The Magic Whip (2015), and most recently the critically acclaimed The Ballad of Darren (2023) – helped to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. Songs such as For Tomorrow, Girls & Boys, Parklife, Beetlebum, Song 2, Coffee & TV, and Tender have become modern standards, both to long-time fans and generations of music lovers around the world who were yet to be born during the group’s imperial hit-making phase.
“Levi’s has always been rooted in music,” says Leo Gamboa, Senior Director of Global Collaborations & Customization Design at Levi’s. “We wanted to bring back the vibe of your favorite Blur band tee—authentic, timeless, and made with quality that lasts for years to come.”
The Levi’s x Blur Band Tee Collection is part of a broader collection of artist tees that the Levi’s brand will release throughout the year. The bands featured for recently released tees include Sonic Youth, Joy Division, New Order, and Oasis.
