LEVI’S REVIVES ITS ‘RED’ LINE

by Stephen Garner

Levi’s announced the revival of its “Red” line for spring 2021 on Friday. First launched in the late ’90s, Levi’s Red is a collection of men’s and women’s bottoms and outerwear reimagined with exaggerated fits, contemporary shapes, sustainable fabrics, and workwear touches.

The new Levi’s Red collection features unique details like uneven and zigzag stitching, shank buttons made to look like worn-down enamel, and special Levi’s Red labels. Men’s jeans include a looser fit version of the 502 Taper as well as a new 505 Utility, both of which are made from organically grown cotton and feature an exaggerated double-stitch arcuate on the back pockets.

For women’s pants, the Low Loose Workpant features a low-rise balloon leg worn stacked over the ankle. Both the women’s High Loose Taper and High Loose feature a high rise and wider fit in the leg. Denim jackets for men and women have oversized, drop-shoulder fits and exaggerated detailing. Pieces from the collection are made with Cottonized Hemp which grows quicker than cotton but is just as soft, uses less water, and leaves behind cleaner, healthier soils.

Levi’s Red, which retails between $198 and $248, is now available as an early-access exclusive on the Levi’s App and will be available on levi.com starting March 30th.
