This Made-In-America Enthusiast Is Launching His Own Line
Menswear blogging in the early days (we’re talking the mid-to-late aughts, kids) was largely a binary world resembling ’90s hip-hop generalizations: the east coast establishment on one side, the brash upstarts in the west on the other, and nothing worth clicking in the middle. As was the case with both genres, perception didn’t match reality, which anyone who had been keeping up with Max Wastler’s All Plaidout knew. Although Wastler started blogging about Pendleton, “Mad Men,” and other Americana-focused stories while editing textbooks in New York City, he really came into his voice—and his personal style—when he relocated back home to the midwest. But after several years traveling the country to spotlight American-made goods, he’s decided to try his hand at making things himself. We caught up with Wastler to discuss his evolution from blogging to Instagram, his recent move to the west coast, and the very personal reason for designing his first shirt. Read more at Esquire.
