SPORTAILOR’S FOUNDING FAMILY HONORED BY MIAMI-DADE COUNTY BY RENAMING STREET TO “RUDMAN WAY”
In an emotional and proud moment for the Rudman family (owners of Sportailor), Miami-Dade County has officially renamed a street in the historic Little River District “Rudman Way.” The newly designated roadway, situated near the Miami Design District and Little Haiti, pays tribute to the late Raul Rudman, a pioneering entrepreneur, and honors his sons Frank and Isaac Rudman, along with their six children: Abe, Stan, Jeff, Sandra, Michelle, and Susy.
“This is a very special day,” said Stan Rudman. “Our father Frank and our grandfather Raul bought and helped build up the Little River District back in the 1960s and 1970s. It’s incredible to see what the area is becoming today. We’re deeply honored by this recognition.”
Stan also acknowledged the pivotal role played by his brother, Jeff Rudman, whose dedication and tireless efforts helped bring “Rudman Way” to fruition.
The Rudman family has been a cornerstone of the Little River community for decades, their legacy marked by a steadfast commitment to entrepreneurial spirit and community development. The street naming is a testament to their lasting impact as the neighborhood continues to transform, bordering the newly established Soccer Park and the Magic City Innovation District.
Raul Rudman’s journey from Poland to Cuba in the 1930s, and eventually to Miami in 1961 after losing everything under the Castro regime, underscores the resilience and drive that shaped the family’s legacy. In Miami, Raul and his son, Frank, rebuilt their lives, planting new business roots in Little River and establishing ventures that have thrived for generations.
The Rudmans manage Rudman Enterprises, which oversees their real estate holdings in the area. In addition, Frank Rudman and his three sons continue to operate Sportailor, Inc., a family-owned apparel business founded in 1963. Known for quality casual, travel, marine, and fishing wear, Sportailor’s brands—Hook & Tackle, Weekender, and Fishing Life—are headquartered in a 100,000-square-foot facility in Little River, employing hundreds of local residents over the years.
The naming of “Rudman Way” honors Raul Rudman’s enduring vision and celebrates a multi-generational family legacy that continues to shape and inspire the Little River community.
