Michael Corvino, President of JanSport, dies in car crash
DANVILLE, CA – Michael Corvino, president of the JanSport subsidiary of VF Corp., died in a crash near his home in Danville, CA on Saturday, when his 1970 Dodge Charger veered off the road and hit a tree, according to California Highway Patrol. The cause of the crash was not immediately apparent. Corvino’s daughter, Alexandra, 16, and John Shaner, 16, of Danville, were riding in the car when the accident occurred. Both were taken to John Muir Medical Center with minor injuries.
Corvino was 46 years old and had been in his job at JanSport since 2004. He relocated to the company’s new San Leandro headquarter in 2005. At the time of his promotion, he was characterized as a key contributor for more than 15 years to the success of various VF brands including VF Imagewear and VF Solutions. Prior to his business career, he played for the Washington Federals of the now defunct USFL.
Jansport is a major manufacturer of backpacks and travel gear. It has been part of VF Corp. since 1986
