Milan Fashion Week Spring 2018: Go Backstage At The Biggest Men’s Shows
A fashion show isn’t meant to be fun. It’s the culmination of a month’s of work by a designer and his or her teams. It’s the one shot a brand gets to get buyers, editors, and influencers alike to get excited about their new wares. From the music to the set to the actual clothes, a runway should is meant to be the purest distillation of a designer’s vision for the season ahead. It’s serious business. The backstage area, on the other hand, is where the fun happens. It’s also where all the chaos happens, all the last-minute tweaks are made, and the quick changes from one outfit to the next happen in a flash. Backstage is where the worlds’ most genetically-blessed male models horse around like the almost-twenty-somethings they are (before their Zoolander stares take over). It’s also the best place to see the freshest menswear threads and accessories up close, removed from thumping music, the house lights, and the all-too-quick turn of a model on a runway. Which is why we went backstage to some of Milan’s best menswear shows to show you a season’s worth of fresh threads and to maybe prove that some folks in fashion know how to have fun. See more at GQ.
