Moscot has opened its fifth location in its hometown of New York City. This opening brings the total brick-and-mortar location count for the 105-year-old family-owned eyewear brand to 15.

The new outpost, Moscot’s first venture above 14th Street, occupies 850 square feet of retail space at 188 Columbus Avenue, in the Upper West Side neighborhood of Manhattan.  The shop opened this past Saturday, October 10th.

Fans of the NYC-based brand can expect to find familiar touches that are distinctly Moscot throughout the space, including vintage tchotchkes, quirky artifacts, old school tin ceilings quintessential to Lower Manhattan architecture, and other mementos of the city’s storied past. From the Lower East Side to the Upper West Side, this new shop will continue the legacy of the beloved neighborhood optical shop, while capturing the nostalgic feeling of having stepped into great-grandma Sylvia Moscot’s living room.

In addition to offering the latest in optical technology and classic eyewear designs, professional eye care will be available including telemedicine eye exams.

“After 105 years in downtown New York, we are thrilled to open our first shop uptown, and for the opportunity to contribute to the exciting neighborhood around Columbus Avenue,” said Dr. Harvey Moscot, fourth generation and CEO of Moscot. “We look forward to bringing a piece of our downtown Lower East Side roots to the Upper West Side. We’re schleppin’ across and uptown for the first time in over 100 years! That’s a big deal for born and bred Lower East Siders like us!”

Moscot currently operates 14 other shops worldwide, including locations in New York City, Los Angeles, London, Rome, Seoul, Tokyo, Paris, and Milan. In addition to the Upper West Side shop, Moscot will continue its retail expansion into the 2021 calendar year.
