Mr. Porter Releases Second Spy Thriller-Inspired Kingsman Collection
Mr. Porter, the U.K.-based e-commerce retailer, has released a second season of its Kingsman menswear collection. The original 60-piece fall/winter collection was inspired by 20th Century Fox’s spy thriller last year of the same name and was created with the film’s costume designer Arianne Phillips, its director Matthew Vaughn and the Mr. Porter menswear design team.
Mr. Porter calls Kingsman its most successful brand launch ever and says the new collection is among the top five best-selling brands for spring/summer.
Like the previous season, the summer Kingsman collection features tailored clothing designed by Phillips and Mr. Porter with other categories by partner brands, including some knits by William Lockie, swimwear by Orlebar Brown, watches by Bremont, eyewear by Cutler & Gross, ties and pocket squares by Drakes, shirting by Turnbull & Asser and more.
“For the second season we have continued to work with the best in class,” said Mr. Porter buying director Toby Bateman in a statement. “With lighter-weight suiting fabrics and single-breasted options coming in to play it’s an exciting new chapter for the range. With additional product categories including swimwear coming to the fore, there are endless possibilities from a design perspective and we look forward to developing this collection further.”
Kingsman, directed by Matthew Vaughn, stars Taron Egerton as a young petty criminal plucked from jail by spymaster Colin Firth for an independent secret service whose agents dress in bespoke suits and are armed with clever gadgets. The film also stars Michael Caine and Samuel L. Jackson.
Mr. Porter, the menswear offshoot of Net A Porter, launched in February 2011.
