NEIMAN MARCUS DALLAS WILL STAY OPEN THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS
Neiman Marcus will be allowed to keep its iconic Dallas location, where it has operated for more than 120 years, open. That is, at least for one more holiday season, according to a statement from Saks Global.
Parent company Saks Global, in concert with the city of Dallas, is evaluating alternate plans for the location as a potential art, fashion, or entertainment destination. For its part, Neiman Marcus has said that it prefers to keep the Dallas location but was presented with a notice to terminate occupancy from the landlord.
Dallas City Manager Kim Tolbert and other leadership had been working on the deal for weeks to save the landmark retail center. In the new agreement, Neiman Marcus might reimagine the retail location as an art exhibit or manufacturing space. “The potential reimagination of this iconic shopping destination reinforces Saks Global’s commitment to redefining the luxury shopping experience,” Marc Metrick, CEO of Saks Global, said in a statement.
What is clear is that Saks Global and the city of Dallas have reached an agreement to allow the retailer to keep its doors open for holiday shoppers in the 2025 Christmas season. Additionally, Neiman Marcus said they will proceed with ambitions to complete a $100 million renovation of the nearby NorthPark Center Mall location.
Marc Metrick added, “As we explore opportunities for the Downtown store, along with the planned renovation at the NorthPark store, we will evaluate the opportunity to utilize both locations to serve different customer needs in the Dallas market.”
