New Jersey Reopens Its Malls, And Its Residents Line Up To Shop

“Malls,” New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said in announcing his decision to reopen the state’s indoor shopping centers, “are part of New Jersey culture and lore – as much here, if not more so, than any other American state.” Today, as the state’s malls reopened for the first time since mid-March, New Jersey residents showed they agreed with the governor that malls are essential to their pursuit of happiness. Malls across the state reported strong turnouts on reopening day, and customers were willing to wear masks, and wait in line to enter stores to comply with occupancy and social distancing rules for the privilege of being able to visit their favorite shopping centers.
