Nick Jonas Is Designing Sneakers With Creative Recreation
From Supreme x Louis Vuitton to The North Face and Junya Watanabe and even Giuseppe x Zayn, the menswear collaboration machine just keeps on humming. And here’s another one to add to the list of team-ups worth knowing about: Los-Angeles based sneaker label Creative Recreation is joining forces with Nick Jonas for a capsule collection of footwear. “The thing that was so exciting is that C.R. really let me take the lead,” Jonas said. “I sat with them and said, Listen, I’m not a shoe designer but I’d really like to learn and grow.” Jonas has had a relationship with the brand since his days touring with his brothers as a group act, and said that as his style evolved toward streetwear, discussions of a working relationship came up, something that “that’s very much my energy and overall look and aesthetic,” he said. The result is a six-piece collection of low-top and high-top sneakers, with a casual, sleek look, some edging toward the futuristic, even. “Some of the shoes in my line are based off of pre-existing styles, but I’ve taken them, and flipped them to given them my personal touch,” he says. “And I designed them with an eye toward where I’m going, not only as an actor and musician and performer, but as a creative person.” See more at GQ.
