Nordstrom May Sell the Apple Watch

Apple WatchApple’s latest product launch, the Apple Watch, is scheduled to launch online, at Apple stores—and maybe Nordstrom stores—on Friday, April 24.

The technology giant announced wholesale partnerships with many luxury retailers across the globe, including Selfridges in London and Isetan in Tokyo, but only one U.S. retailer—the relatively small luxury retailer Maxfield in Los Angeles (which will probably be selling the $10,000+ 18-karat gold version).

According to a report by Reuters yesterday, Nordstrom is currently in talks with Apple.

The Apple watch, the company’s first totally new product in five years, requires an Apple phone to work. It tells time, of course, but it also has apps, shows email and texts and lets users answers phone calls. It has a built-in heart rate sensor and a accelerometer to measure movement. It can alert the user to new messages with a soft tapping, sort of like the vibrating action of the phone.

The watches will be available in three price levels: the Apple Watch Sport ($349-$399); Apple Watch ($549-$1,099); and Apple Watch Edition, the 18-karat yellow or rose gold alloy collection ($10,000 and up).

International retailers announced by Apple so far are Galeries Lafayette and Colette in Paris; Isetan and Dover Street Market in Tokyo; Selfridges and Dover Street Market in London; The Corner in Berlin; and Maxfield in Los Angeles.
