PARLEY FOR THE OCEANS AND DIOR PRESENT THIRD BEACH CAPSULE

by John Russel Jones

For the third year running, Parley for the Oceans has partnered with Dior on a beachwear capsule that reflects their collaborative desire to move towards a more eco-innovative future for fashion.

Building on last year’s capsule, the 2024 line is composed of 100% innovative materials. Thirty percent of the garments are designed using Parley Ocean Plastic, transforming each garment into a ‘Symbol of Change,’ i.e., a product that supports the environmental cause and Parley’s long-term vision for a material revolution.

“A large part of what we do at Parley is to intercept plastic from nature. We collect all these waste materials and transform them, giving them a second life in luxury products that can supercharge a Material Revolution that ultimately replaces plastics. Together with Dior, now in our third year of collaboration, we have mastered the challenge of reworking hard-to-recycle plastics into elevated textiles. Fashion has the power to turn everything upside down. And that is exactly what we are continuing to do with Dior — connecting what we know to innovate and change our current culture,” said Cyrill Gutsch, CEO and Founder of Parley for the Oceans.

An ode to the house’s constantly renewed inventiveness, the pieces are refined by a palette of mineral colors, from aqua green to blue tones, contrasted by shades of white or gray. The graphic Dior Italic signature or the emblematic Dior Oblique adorn these unique models, which include waterproof capes, T-shirts, and H-Town Sandals.

Celebrating the splendor of the marine universe, a coral print motif magnifies a short-sleeved shirt, shorts, and even a bucket hat. The season’s bags, including the Dior 8 and the multi-wear reversible tote, are made in lightweight fabrics and promise flexibility, durability, and functionality for a modern, casual look.

“This year again, we consolidate our partnership with Parley for the Oceans with a third beachwear capsule. I’m proud to be part of the desire of the House to move to a more sustainable fashion. Nature is something as important to me as it was to Monsieur Dior. The collection is mixing style and functionality which makes it very desirable for the consumers,” said Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Dior’s Men’s Collections.
