by Karen Alberg Grossman

Award-winning designer and founder of Robert Graham and Roberts Club, Robert Stock presented the Menswear Award at Fashion Institute of Technology to student David Garcia on Tuesday, May 14th in conjunction with a wonderful exhibit open to the public until May 29th.

Representing the work of more than 800 graduate students in 16 areas of study from the School of Art and Design, the exhibit is on view throughout the main floors of the Marvin Feldman Center, the Shirley Goodman Resource Center, The Museum at FIT, the Art and Design Gallery at the Fred P. Pomerantz Art and Design Center, and the John E. Reeves Great Hall. The art selected is the culmination of each student’s unique experience in FIT’s diverse and demanding undergraduate Art and Design program. The Graduating Student Exhibition advances the college’s philosophy that theory and teaching should be integrated with practical experience in the industry.

Maintains iconic menswear designer Robert Stock, “It is important to support and encourage the next generation of design talent. I was delighted to meet each of this year’s 14 finalists. They are creative, enthusiastic and ready to take the next steps in their career paths.”
