SUNSPEL TO LAUNCH SECOND LEMAIRE COLLABORATION

by Stephen Garner

Sunspel and French luxury label Lemaire have come together again for their second collaboration, a capsule collection that’s paired back in its simplicity and melds the two brands’ interests in quality fabrics.

Sunspel’s classic pajama top was given a modern Lemaire makeover in the form of a shirt jacket with heritage detailing in the revere collar and double pocket. The matching trousers are a Lemaire take on Sunspel’s original pajama bottoms, contemporized in a wide-fit elasticated trouser with a button-fly and welt pockets. The set has been updated in a graphic marble print inspired by vintage Sunspel journal ledgers as well as a more traditional black colorway with bold piping detail. Sunspel and Lemaire also developed an exclusive cotton rib fabric in soft pink, bright green, and black. With a dry hand feel, this compact rib is perfect for winter layering as an oversized T-shirt and seasonal roll-neck.

“When we do a collaboration, we like to work with brands that have a similar attitude,” said Nicholas Brooke, Sunspel CEO. “Lemaire is one such brand, and after visiting our archive they brought their discerning design and attention to detail to the development of some really interesting pieces. Two articles caught their eye — our archive fabrics and pajama sets. It is a testament to the innovative attitude of our founder that fabrics developed over 100 years ago can be reworked today in high fashion styles. It is also great when fashion designers turn to companies like ours, where the focus has always been on quality and fabric development.”

Sunspel x Lemaire, which retails between $205 to $460, will be available for purchase in Sunspel stores and on Sunspel.com starting August 15th.
