Supreme’s Lacoste Collab Might Just Make Preppy Streetwear Happen
If you’re a tennis fan—or a streetwear fan, or if you just love seeing classic pieces reworked with new perspective—then you’re going to love Supreme’s latest collaboration. The street-style superpower has teamed up with iconic French sportswear brand Lacoste for a lineup of tennis sweaters, Harrington jackets, shorts, and other related gear. It’s been a good few years since modern prepster brands like Band of Outsiders dominated the menswear landscape, but this seems like a sign of things to come. So we have to ask: Is this the return of prep? Never one to shy away from an adventurous pairing, Supreme appears to be on a bit of a Gallic streak lately, teaming up with French luxury house Louis Vuitton earlier this year, and now Lacoste. For a brand that has its roots in skater culture, it’s interesting to see Supreme play against type with these collaborations. Skaters and preps together! Go figure. But such is the world of fashion now that pretty much anything is ripe for the collaborative treatment. See more at Esquire.
