The Tie Bar Opening a Pop-Up in NYC
Online neckwear and accessories retailer The Tie Bar will open a pop-up shop in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood in April. The pop-up will be the retailer’s second; the first, opened in Chicago last October, became a permanent retail store last month.
The New York pop-up, which will be open for three months, will be at 250 Mott Street between Houston and Prince. It will feature a variety of The Tie Bar’s merchandise, including the Tie the Knot collaboration with Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and the capsule collection curated by NBA star Dwyane Wade.
“Opening a New York retail space is an extremely important step for us,” said CEO Michael Alter in a statement. “It’s the American fashion capital and a large market for our loyal shoppers. We’re very excited to showcase the breadth of our collections in a dynamic shopping environment and highlight firsthand why the brand is known for driving men’s accessory trends.”
The retailer added that it’s planning another pop-up in a different market later this year.
The Tie Bar announced last month that it was changing its pricing structure from $15 for ties to $19. Pocket squares will go up from $8 to $10. Knit ties, tie bars, socks, belts and other accessories will maintain current pricing. The company now offers free domestic shipping for orders of more than $50.
The Tie Bar was founded 10 years ago by Greg and Gina Shugar, two Chicago lawyers. The Shugars sold the company to an investment group in 2013 and Michael Alter joined as CEO in April last year, replacing Anand Shah.
