TODD SNYDER UPDATES DENIM OFFERING
As part of his ongoing interest in elevating everyday essentials through best-in-class fabrics and exceptional design, Todd Snyder is launching a new approach to denim. Organized into three tiers (Stretch, Selvedge, and Small Batch), it’s based on the idea that there are moments when customers want an everyday, competitively-priced pair of jeans, and others when they’re in the market for something more special and limited-edition.
Select Small Batch styles are made from traceable selvedge denim crafted from cotton grown within a 400-mile radius of Louisiana’s Vidalia Mills. The fabric is woven on old-school Draper looms sourced from North Carolina’s legendary White Oak mill, and then cut and sewn in Los Angeles.
A number of the most classic styles will always be available, while seasonal and limited-edition jeans will be added twice a year (in the fall and spring). The weights of the fabrics run the gamut from a three-season denim that clocks in at 13.05 ounces to an 11-ounce summer-ready selvedge.
“I wanted three distinct categories of denim for the same reason that sometimes you want an artisanal sipping whiskey and others a draft beer,” said Snyder. “There are some mornings when I want to pull on an easy pair of stretch jeans, and other times when I want something unique that has all the rugged cool of a vintage find. What unites them all is we tried to ensure that each tier was the best expression of its kind.”
Consulting on the relaunch was Snyder’s longtime friend and former colleague, Eric Goldstein. With over 30 years of experience in the denim trade, Goldstein has forgotten more about denim than many learn over a lifetime.
“We are very proud of all three tiers of denim. We focused on every single detail from the stitches per inch of the sewing to the overall fit,” added Goldstein. “We are also proud to bring a Made in USA product to the line – particularly one made from 100 percent USA sustainable cotton, woven on the most historic denim looms in the world, then sewn in downtown Los Angeles.”
Todd Snyder’s new denim is now available at toddsnyder.com and at Todd Snyder stores in New York City. The Stretch (Slim or Straight) styles retail for $158, the Selvedge (Slim or Straight) for $198, and the Small Batch (Relaxed of Slim) for $268.
