TOMBOGO CELEBRATES FREELANCE WORKERS IN NEW COLLECTION
TOMBOGO is shouting out all of the freelance workers with its new fall collection. The brand’s new “Freelance” collection reflects on how 2020 has thrown many people out of their comfort zones and routines and forced them to adapt.
“From independent creatives to full-time employees, this collection pays homage to what exactly it means to be a ‘Freelancer’ in the ongoing pandemic — and the strength it’s brought out in all of us,” said designer Tommy Bogo. “TOMBOGO celebrates the ‘freelancer’ mentality that this year has instilled in us, regardless of our professions.”
The designer drew inspiration from our new “normal” day-to-day lives, while thinking of innovative ways to reinvent classic styles in a modern context. This is only the latest in TOMBOGO’s long reflection on modular design. Each piece of the collection explores how clothing can adapt to different environments, while still being comfortable enough to work from anywhere — a necessity in our new remote world that blurs the lines of work, home, and the outside. The color story is centered around earth tones with pops of bright, bold colors.
The lookbook and short film starring Audrey Mika, J Rabon, Sicology, Darrick Peartree, Lex Giana, and Anthony Quisay spotlight each of the models as independent creatives who each faced their own set of challenges during the pandemic. The campaign reflects the attitude and tenacity that this group of creatives embodied to overcome the hardships faced during these unprecedented times. To reflect the current climate of work-life, TOMBOGO designed an outdoor environment within a controlled indoor studio/office–a “remote workspace” of sorts. The juxtaposition between the office and outdoors serve as a representation of how we have acclimated and naturally become more in touch with ourselves during this global crisis. The short film showcases the innovative pieces in action and will premiere on November 13th, 2020 at 12pm EST in conjunction with the drop.
A centerpiece of the fall 2020 collection, the Adaptive Double Knee Pants, further TOMBOGO’s exploration of the classic cargo pant through a utilitarian, yet contemporary lens. Taking inspiration from Carhartt Double Knee Carpentry Pant, Bogo reimagines this classic silhouette with a functional twist that makes the pants a dynamic fit for any situation. The front of the pant features detachable and reversible pocket panels with multi-sized utility and tool pockets allowing for plenty of space to stash your things. Alternatively, the wearer can opt for a sleek look without the panels. The pants are durable for work while still comfortable for home, featuring a flexible waistband, and are made out of 10oz 100 percent cotton duck canvas.
Another highlight from the collection is the Adaptive Half Zip Shirt, this unique piece has detachable sleeves that can be zipped and unzipped with ease, and is easy to layer with the rest of the pieces from the collection. The shirt comes in a luxe two-tone corduroy fabric, and features an authentic TOMBOGO pull tag. These hero pieces reflect on our ability to adapt to any environment, and prove that there are infinite possibilities with just one unique TOMBOGO piece.
Accessories from the collection include gradient tone bucket hats, a utility leg bag belt, rope and hook tote bags in coordinating colors, multi-functional carabiners, and Measuring Tape (packaging tape that can measure surfaces). The accessories are the perfect complement to the clothing, mixing functionality, style, and modernity.
Additionally, as a follow up to his popular Cargo Cap collaboration, TOMBOGO has updated the brand’s take on the New Era snapback in autumnal gradients. Bogo utilizes a dip-dye process to create unique colorways for each hat. The colors include a sunny, gradient orange, and a natural, moody gradient green.
