UNIQLO DEBUTS REPAIR STUDIO AT ITS NYC SOHO FLAGSHIP
Japanese monobrand monolith Uniqlo has launched RE. UNIQLO Repair Studio at its flagship store at 546 Broadway in Manahattan’s SoHo.
The new space on the ground floor offers basic onsite repairs – such as replacing shirt buttons, mending seam rips and patching holes – to customers’ Uniqlo LifeWear pre-worn items for a $5 fee.
Additional repairs may be addressed based on customer needs.
The studio is Uniqlo’s latest development in its RE.UNIQLO program, which promotes a circular apparel system and prioritizes, according to the company, a division of Fast Retailing, four R’s: reduce, replace, re-use and recycle.
“Uniqlo’s clothing, called LifeWear, is designed to make everyone’s life better,” said Daisuke Tsukagoshi, the CEO of Uniqlo USA, in a statement. “Perfected essentials that are both stylish and timeless, LifeWear comes from our Japanese values of simplicity, quality, and longevity. We are proud to offer our newest service at our oldest store in the US, helping to give our customers’ favorite items an even longer life, benefitting both the wearer and the environment.”
