WEATHERPROOF LAUNCHES VINTAGE & BLACK

by Karen Alberg Grossman

Ron Rheingold knows a thing or two about men’s sportswear! After 15 years at Weatherproof Vintage, he and his talented design team are producing soft, washed, vintage-inspired collections that continue to sell, sell, sell! (My visit to the showroom last week included a walk down Seventh Avenue to view the new fall ’24 styles featured in Macy’s windows and in their separate in-store shop on the third floor.)

Explaining the brand’s success, Rheingold (president of Weatherproof Vintage and Weatherproof Menswear) confides: “The industry used to take details out of the product to offer a lower price; we add details into the product for greater value which allows retailers to make more money. We’re all about fashion to value, rather than value and price!” He also gives much credit to his talented design team, especially EVP of merchandising Tony Galvao.

Sensing a new opportunity, Ron, Tony and team have put together a new contemporary collection called Vintage & Black, a modern contemporary menswear collection. Strong pieces include sweaters ($95-$225 retails which include pure cashmere), leather jackets (up to $595), woven and corduroy shirts (under $100), and fun printed bottoms, both casual and dressy.
