WHY TailoRED IS CLOTHING GOLD FOR SPECIALTY STORES

by Karen Alberg Grossman

Talk to any independent specialty store these days and you’ll hear a common request: where can we find an upscale, well-priced, quality clothing collection that’s not in department stores and not sold direct-to-consumer?

Great news: Peerless has created a fabulous, fashion-right, margin-generating tailored clothing collection (the brainchild of Ronny Wurtzburger) just for independent specialty stores. Crafted in the company’s Montreal factory (which has been totally re-tooled for half-canvas, Italian-style production), the suits and sportscoats feature luxury fabrics from top Italian mills, luxury details (corozo buttons, Bemberg linings, their signature red knot) and much hand-craftsmanship throughout the garment.

Available in a few different models (classic, soft, super-soft) with a newly perfected fit, the collection is available with the TailoRED label or else stores can use their own brand name. The prestigious mill label (Reda, Loro Piana, Carlo Barbera, etc.) is sewn onto both the outside (sleeve) and inside of the garment. Best of all, these suits (available on an in-stock program) wholesale between $230 and $325, sportscoats between $169-$225. In addition to the suits and sportscoats, there’s a well-curated outerwear offering of modern coats and jackets in the $265-$325 range. (Some feature a new featherless down fill.)

But forget what we say; let’s hear from the retailers! Says Frank Ventresca from Ventresca Ltd., “As an independent retailer, I find much value in the TailoRED product. It’s made in Canada with premium piece goods, not overly distributed, has a nice balance to the pattern, nice shoulder and drape, great fit, easy alterations and it gives us the opportunity for a longer markup. Specialty stores today need margin and exclusivity: this collection is perfect for us!”

Ed Liston from Harry Rosen is another big fan. “We see great value with the TailoRED sport jackets. In addition to exceptional fabrics from top Italian mills, it’s a very nice contemporary cut with a softer expression in the shoulder that gives the client comfort but at the same time says he’s wearing a tailored jacket. And, of course, they’re Made in Canada; Harry Rosen is always proud to support Canadian manufacturing.”

And from David Rubenstein at Rubensteins in New Orleans, “We’re delighted with the TailorRED clothing collection (a.k.a. ‘Reds’), created by our industry genius Ronny Wurtzburger, who’s never made a mistake. Stick with him and get a perfect garment that sells and makes money.”
