Will Fall 2014 Sales Be As Good as Last Year?

Q: I’m about to go off to fall market. Last fall was pretty good — should I expect the same this year? Which categories should I be focusing on?
A: Here at Blacks, we expect 2014 to be a good year for retail, and fall could be the peak of the cycle. For the full season, we are expecting growth of between 6 and 8 percent.
Casual pants and outerwear will continue to be strong. Last year we did see some weakness in the sweater and knit categories, so you might want to look for new vendors to develop in these areas. Have fun at market, and best of luck!
