WOOLMARK PARTNERS WITH HUCKBERRY FOR 72-HOUR AUSTRALIAN ADVENTURE
Woolmark, the global authority on wool, has unveiled a partnership with online retailer Huckberry to create a documentary demonstarting the performance capabilities of Merino wool for an episode of Huckberry Presents – 72 Hours on YouTube. Filmed in Tasmania’s pristine Australian wilderness, the ultimate performance fiber is put to the test by both the forces of Mother Nature and adventurers pushing the limits.
Hosted by Ben O’Meara, Huckberry VP of Marketing, and Sunny Chang, Designer for Huckberry’s Proof adventure apparel, the episode centers around the two as they hike, kayak and cycle their way through the Tasmanian wilderness, supported by the innate performance qualities of wool that include durability, temperature regulation, moisture wicking and odor resistance, which make wool the ideal fiber for outdoor adventure.
The team wears Huckberry’s adventure apparel line – Proof – to showcase the exceptional performance qualities of Merino wool. The collection, which includes quarter-zip jackets, hoodies, long sleeve T-Shirts and two-button polo shirts is quality tested for performance by The Woolmark Certification program, receiving Wool Rich Blend/Merino Perform certification.
“There is no product – and more specifically fabric – I’ve worn more during my 10 years at Huckberry than our Proof 72-Hour Merino shirts. We’ve traveled around the world putting this Merino to the test, making sure when we tell our community it’s the best on the market – it performs,” says Ben O’Meara, Huckberry VP of Marketing.
The episode opens with a farm tour showcasing six-generation woolgrower Anna Cotton’s, family property, Kelvedon Estate, where Ben and Sunny learn about the wool fiber’s raw origins. From breeding and selecting Merino sheep, to grazing and pasture management, shearing, skirting and sorting wool, Ben and Sunny experience the full circle journey of wool from farm to finished garment.
Keen to put Merino wool’s capabilities to the test, Ben and Sunny wear Huckberry Proof’s garments on the towering Tasman cliffs and during a vigorous hike at Cape Pillar’s famous peninsula. Next, they amp up the adrenalin with gravel biking, then push the fiber’s capabilities to the next level by battling strong waves while sea kayaking, and finally hike to the 1,545-metre summit of Cradle Mountain.
The episode airs on YouTube today, and adventure enthusiasts can shop the garments online at Huckberry.com.
