A PERSONAL TRIBUTE, A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

by Stewart Golden

As many of you know, I lost my wife Ellen to cancer on March 4th after a long and valiant battle with this horrible disease. Ellen was 70 years old; we were married for almost 50 of those years and have two fabulous children: Melissa and Andrew. We were true partners–in business (Golden Apparel), and in life.

Everyone who knew Ellen was captivated by her positive energy and joie de vivre. She was an upbeat person who loved to entertain, to gamble (especially video poker in Vegas while I was selling schmatas at the trade shows), to travel, and to counsel everyone she met. She was the quintessential ‘people person’ with an amazing ability to connect with all types. Her cheerful optimism was virtually contagious: she made the most of every day, truly enjoying her life and helping others to enjoy theirs, hardships notwithstanding.

This note is simply to thank all my menswear colleagues for the outpouring of love and support these past few weeks. And to remind everyone that we are in a very special industry where genuine friendships can be made and sustained over the years. As Ellen would advise me, it’s so important to appreciate these friendships and show the love. Thank you is not nearly enough.

With love and gratitude, Stewart
