ALEXANDER MCQUEEN SHOWS SPRING 2021 MEN’S COLLECTION

by Stephen Garner

Alexander McQueen has unveiled its new spring/summer 2021 men’s collection.

Similar to its women’s pre-spring ’21 collection, this line was designed during lockdown and predominantly created using stock fabrics. The British luxury label’s design team were each sent a mannequin and stock fabric to their homes and were tasked with creating a collection inspired by their surroundings. The team met the challenge of creating something new from the old, with stock fabrics dip dyed and printed in the gardens of some of the team members.

Highlights of the collection include the double-breasted suit in ivory wool, along with a single-breasted model constructed in a distressed jacquard Prince of Wales wool check. Other standout items are a deconstructed wool intarsia cricket sweater, a spliced oversized cardigan, and a spencer jacket with a full parka skirt in black polyfaille appliquéd with jeweled brooch embroidery.

And, don’t miss the range of bow-detailed tailoring – it’s sure to be a showstopper at any event we are allowed to hold in 2021!
