by Stephen Garner

American Rag CieContemporary menswear brand Kinfolk is coming to Los Angeles.

Aligning with L.A. retailer American Rag Compagnie, Brooklyn-based Kinfolk will meld New York attitude with West Coast laid-back culture – bringing the brand’s bespoke product available for purchase at a West Coast retailer for the first time ever. The eight-week pop-up will showcase a sneak preview of Kinfolk’s autumn/winter 2016 Good Times International collection and will feature limited-edition collaboration items sold exclusively at American Rag.

The partnered pop-up marks American Rag as the only brick-and-mortar in the United States other than Kinfolk that is able to sell the brand’s product. The opening celebration will be held today, August 19 from 6pm-9pm at the original American Rag Cie location on South La Brea Avenue, with an invite-only after-party event hosted at Little Joy in Echo Park.

“American Rag Cie is an institution in Los Angeles. It’s an honor for us to be invited to do a pop-up in their store,” says Jey Perie, creative director at Kinfolk. “We always wanted to bring our aesthetic and energy to L.A. This will be a perfect opportunity for us to see how people in California react and interact with our collection. Hopefully it’s just the beginning of a longer Cali love affair.”
