BOSS TO EXPAND RESPONSIBLE TAILORING COLLECTIONS

by Stephen Garner

This spring/summer 2020 season, BOSS emphasizes its commitment to a more sustainable approach to fashion, with a focus on premium tailoring. The brand is building on the success of its Traceable Wool designs by adding womenswear pieces to the range and launching a fully vegan suit, free of all animal-based materials, as part of its menswear collection.

Highlights of the men’s collection for spring/summer 2020 include a pinstriped wool jersey suit with drawstring pants, a summary lightweight slim-fit suit, athleisure-inspired tapered pants with cuffed hems, and an elevated polo design. This season, BOSS Menswear offers more responsibly tailored styles than ever before.

The newly introduced vegan suit is a modern slim-fit design with lightweight construction. Available in three colors – light beige, dark blue, and black – it is crafted in Germany from pure certified organic European grown linen. All components which, in a traditional premium suit, would contain materials such as wool or horsehair, have been omitted or replaced with vegan alternatives. This ensures that the entire item is free from animal-based materials.

The new vegan suit, which retails for $895, complements the brands existing vegan sneaker that was launched in spring/summer 2018 and continues as part of the current spring collection. These low-top sneakers are made of 100 percent vegan materials and sold in a fully recyclable and biodegradable box. These tennis-inspired sneakers feature uppers crafted in Piñatex, a textile made from pineapple leaves and finished with a plant-based dye. With organic cotton laces, a recycled TPU outsole and breathable lining in cotton and linen, these Italian-made shoes retail for $348.

The BOSS suit is PETA certified and sports the “PETA-Approved Vegan” logo. “We are delighted to see that animal-friendly fashion is on the rise, and BOSS is the first world-known premium brand to set this stylish milestone in menswear,” said Harald Ullmann, vice president of PETA Germany. “Kind people can now buy high-end business suits that are not only stylish and fashionable but also cruelty-free and sustainable.”
