BOSTON RETAILER BODEGA TO OPEN NEW RETAIL CONCEPT
Boston-based contemporary retailer Bodega has announced it will be opening a new retail concept aimed at “examining the intersection of art and design, sports, culture, and fashion, as revolving exhibitions.”
Located 184 Massachusetts Avenue, the new store, simply dubbed Series, will serve as a collaborative space that will focus on one brand’s capsule collection per exhibition.
Series will operate as a temporary and revolving gallery, presenting each collection with depth and storytelling throughout the space and customer experience. A limited number of exhibitions are scheduled throughout the year on an invite-only basis. Each exhibition will feature either exclusive content and/or product presented for an extremely limited amount of time.
“We’ve been experiencing camp-outs and queues for special projects since the beginning of Bodega and began to think how great it would be to create that opportunity for special collections from our extended family of friends and their brands,” said Oliver Mak, co-founder of Bodega. “Bodega itself is a full environment so why not create full environments in a space like Series for projects that have full story lines and visuals that should be presented as an exhibition. The lines between fashion and art are so blurred, we might as well fuse the two by highlighting fashion as performance art, and the retail space as installation art.”
The space will open on April 1 with the much-anticipated launch of the Adidas x Alexander Wang collection serving as its first capsule exhibition.
