BRITISH EYEWEAR BRAND CUBITTS TO OPEN FLAGSHIP STORE IN NEW YORK CITY
British eyewear brand Cubitts will open a flagship store in New York City this month. Situated in the heart of SoHo at 103 Mercer Street, the store promises to be a haven for eyewear enthusiasts. The launch of the New York store marks a significant milestone for the brand as it expands its global footprint. It’s the first international store for the brand, a goal founder Tom Broughton has long held.
“Our goal on reaching £1mn profit was always to launch in the US” says Broughton. “In 2014, we opened our first store in Soho, London. A decade later, I’m delighted to announce we’ll open this Spring in New York. Our first store in the United States is tiny. It’s possibly one of the smallest sites in all of Manhattan, hidden behind a rare downtown tree and a vast sea of blue bikes, but it is beautiful.
“Built in 1900, long before SoHo earned its name, our building tells the story of an earlier city, of a new world. It’s a jewelry box befitting the grand Cast Iron district, taking cues from American streamline design, the glamor of an Edward Hopper painting, and Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory.
“As an outsider who has long gazed across the Atlantic with wonder and curiosity, it all feels very New York to me. We’ll be far from home but won’t change who we are. So you’ll have to forgive us – we’ll be bringing spectacles, not eyeglasses, along for the ride.”
Cubitts has long been a favorite among celebrities and influencers, with notable figures such as Stanley Tucci, Steve Coogan, Erdem, Eddie Redmayne, Helena Bonham Carter, and Madonna spotted wearing the brand’s iconic frames. Featured in top fashion magazines and worn by A-listers on the red carpet, Cubitts’ eyewear has garnered widespread acclaim for being the modern spectacle maker.
In celebration of the store opening, Cubitts will host a series of exclusive events, inviting customers to discover the brand’s approach to sustainability, their latest collections and bespoke offering and cultural collaborations.
