CALA MEN’S TREND SHOW GARNERS MUCH PRAISE

In its first incarnation as an open booth show, last week’s CALA Men’s Trend Show at The Marriott Hotel & Spa in Newport Beach, CA was a big success, according to retailers, brands, and show director Ken Haruta.

“Our goal was to provide retailers, manufacturers, and agents an open booth environment that’s comfortable, fun, and safe. We’re also hoping to re-establish the West Coast as a significant meeting place for better men’s and contemporary stores. I believe we accomplished both goals: our show was sold out; the common thread among our 200 vendors was that they wrote business and had a return on their investment.”

Haruta noted that he is “truly humbled” by the show’s success. “We had a 174 percent increase in retailer attendance and the best-attended show in 14 years. We’re already getting calls and emails inquiring about our next show. Much of the credit goes to my amazing new partner Gerry Murtagh, owner/operator of the CALA Shows. I also want to recognize Michael Kofoed and Liana Mehner for their efforts in making this a successful event.”

Haruta also gave accolades to the opening night party, hosted by John Braeger of Garys in his beautiful new store. “John Braeger, through his generosity, good humor, and humility, reinforced his leadership position in the men’s industry.”

CALA Men’s Trend Show will continue to be a highly curated show of better brands and will be announcing its January dates shortly. The next edition will support both men’s and women’s fashion in a 50,000 square foot location at The Hangars.
