CARMINA SHOEMAKER OPENS MADISON AVENUE FLAGSHIP

by Stephen Garner

Carmina Shoemaker, the Spanish luxury footwear and accessories brand, has opened its second store in Manhattan, this time on Madison Avenue.

Despite the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic affecting luxury retail across the globe, this fourth-generation family business continues its journey towards honest retail, providing peak craftsmanship and leather quality.

Located at 509 Madison Avenue (at 53rd Street), the 1,700 square foot store is a nod to the brand’s heritage; the idea that production pairs seamlessly with the protection of culture. Designed by Marlene Albaladejo, creative director and a member of the Carmina Shoemaker family, the corner store includes two full walls of windows flooding natural sunlight onto the custom wooden walls, shelving, and furniture, produced in Mallorca by expert wood craftsman Carpintería Campanet. The entire store includes custom accents from the walls, shelving, furniture, and flooring, which were designed by the expert Mallorcan stonemason, Paviments Lloseta, to the custom Onyx countertops, also manufactured in Mallorca by Moragues Stones.

With modernity and ergonomics in mind, the store is also equipped with a hydraulic shelving system, bringing an interesting and contemporary touch to the classic retail experience and integrating storage into the decor, which has become known as the “Carmina Signature Touch.”

“Carmina Shoemaker is excited to unveil our Madison Avenue store where we will better serve our loyal clientele who always appreciate the artisanship behind every Carmina piece,” said Carmina Albaladejo, who works in business development for the brand. “The store will house our full range of handcrafted styles and will also serve as a beautiful backdrop for our clients who prefer to spend a bit more time with us selecting every detail of their custom shoes.”

The Madison Avenue store will join the brand’s growing collection of retail outposts in Spain (Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Madrid); Paris, France; Dubai, UAE; Singapore; and another store in NYC which opened in 2017.

Carmina Shoemaker was founded in 1866 on the island of Mallorca, and specializes in classic and modern styles for men and women including cordovan, oxfords, derbies, loafers, monk straps, boots, and exotic skins.
