CUSTO BARCELONA RELAUNCHES MENSWEAR AT NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Barcelona-based ready-to-wear label, Custo Barcelona unveiled its latest collection for spring/summer 2020 at New York Fashion Week on Monday. Titled Wet Paint, the collection was inspired by female individuality and strength, the brand’s newest offering pays tribute to the modern woman who is not afraid to make herself heard, both vocally and through her daring wardrobe. As the women’s range continues to take center stage, Custo Barcelona also showcases a first look at the relaunch of a menswear capsule, which marks a return to the brand’s origins nearly four decades ago.

The debut menswear offering presents an array of looks for fearless men who dare to take risks with color. Swimwear leads the pack for the collection, with graphic and metallic board shorts featuring high hems serving as the ideal complement to the women’s range. Full looks are completed with patterned crew-necks and floral silk shirting for a perfect day-to-night look that is distinctly Custo.

Fabrics choices for the season continue the story of modernity as technical fabrics combine with delicate woven jacquards and fringe, creating interesting texture throughout the collection. White neoprene serves as a key ingredient, which threads throughout the offering adding an element of purity, while colorful experimental organdies imbue the signature Custo appeal.

“When you move into a new home, the first you do is paint it to create a clean canvas for a new life,” said Custo Dalmau, the creative director of Custo Barcelona. “Similarly, with this collection, we aim to do just that for the Custo Barcelona brand. Our goal this season is to ‘renovate’ the Custo DNA for the present and future through the creation of extremely emotional pieces.”
