EXTRA BUTTER TEAMS UP WITH GRAFFITI ARTIST CLAW MONEY

by Stephen Garner

In honor of International Women’s Month, Extra Butter has collaborated with legendary graffiti artist Claw Money to organize a new experience at the newest Extra Butter location in Long Island City in Queens, New York.

In addition to a mural created by Claw Money on the west wall of the store at the entrance of The Infamous bar, the duo’s collaboration includes an Extra Butter x Claw Money limited-edition collection, a pop-up store curated by Claw Money, and a signature cocktail created exclusively for the speakeasy.

“I love Extra Butter so much. They are the best in the biz, and I’m so excited for their expansion into LIC with the new location,” said artist Claw Money. “I would always go to their LES store for events and obviously, shopping when I had my store on Ludlow and Delancey. I am happy to team up with such a great, like-minded brand, and excited to see the response from store-goers to see not only the custom mural, but also the cool collection we’ve created together.”

“There’s a reason she’s referred to as the ‘First lady of Graffiti,’ and I am excited that our team linked with her to bring her art during International Women’s Month to my home borough of Queens,” said Extra Butter CEO, Ankur Amin. “Extra Butter has supported the various women within the streetwear and art community, Claw Money has been a pivotal trailblazer within the streetwear and art community, and we are honored to not only partner but celebrate her.”

“We have a deep respect for Claw Money for being a part of the New York City graffiti scene that we grew up on, but also as one of the first females to break into the male-dominated scene and create a name for herself,” added Bernie Gross, creative director at Extra Butter. “She possesses a lively personality, and we wanted to be able to utilize the various experiences within the Extra Butter brand to be able to amplify her energy. From the mural, to collaborative merch, to store-in-store, and even creating her very own signature drink at our Infamous Bar. Like many New Yorkers, Claudia has stories to tell, and we hope Extra Butter is another one of her chapters that speaks to her legacy in the street art scene.”

The collaborative items which feature art created by Claw Money, include a hoodie and pant set, two T-shirt options, and bucket hats.

The pop-up experience, entirely curated by Claw Money, will feature art, books, accessories, eyewear, vintage apparel, and vintage Claw Money footwear. The Infamous will also host an intimate tasting session with Claw Money guest bartending on March 25th for the debut of her Clawtini cocktail.

The Extra Butter x Claw Money pop-up is now open through April 4th.
