FRED SEGAL BRINGS BACK CAMP BEVERLY HILLS

by Stephen Garner

Fred Segal announced on Thursday that it is now hosting the exclusive return of the beloved classic American ‘80s sportswear brand, Camp Beverly Hills. Reestablishing the brand’s Los Angeles roots, camp is back in session for a new generation of nostalgic shoppers looking to shop the reimagined line in person. Launching today, July 1st, the exclusive capsule collection and pop-up activation will pay homage to the original Camp Beverly Hills store, originally located off Rodeo Drive.

The colorful, pastel-hued capsule collection offers a selection of vintage tees, tanks, sets, sweatshirts, and accessories including towels and patches, retailing from $22 to $295. To celebrate the return of Camp Beverly Hills, Fred Segal will bring camp to life with a limited-time installation on Thursday, July 8th. Throughout the day, shoppers can take photos in front of a Camp Beverly Hills pop-up inside the Sunset Blvd. flagship. Additionally, from 3-7 p.m., CoolHaus will be in-store offering S’mores Ice Cream Sandwiches to all shoppers, with a special appearance from consent creator, Ellie Zeiler from 4-6 p.m.

“I could not be happier to re-launch and re-establish Camp Beverly Hills at Fred Segal,” said Jeff Lotman, CEO and owner of Fred Segal. “This classic brand and pop culture phenomenon is the embodiment of California cool and we are thrilled to share this brand with a whole new generation.”

Originally launched in 1977, Camp Beverly Hills was created as the antithesis of the high-fashion brands that were being sold in Beverly Hills’ boutiques at the time. The casual and comfortable style became a pop culture phenomenon and a celebrity obsession overnight. The first store was located off Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills with celebrity fans including Jane Fonda, Bruce Springsteen, Drew Barrymore, Barbara Streisand, and many others.

“I am delighted to have the quintessential California retailer Fred Segal relaunching the most quintessential of California lifestyle brands Camp Beverly Hills! They are the perfect partner for this iconic brand,” added Camp Beverly Hills co-owner, Jay Foreman.

Camp Beverly Hills is available to shop now online at fredsegal.com and in-store at Fred Segal’s Sunset Blvd. Flagship location.
