G-III Apparel Group has licensed Genesco Inc. to design, distribute and market men’s and women’s footwear under the G.H. Bass brand in the U.S. and Canada. The first collection will debut this summer for the spring 2016 season.
“G.H. Bass has the consumer recognition and the growth potential, both with the G.H. Bass retail stores and in the wider wholesale marketplace, to become a meaningful addition to our diversified portfolio of owned and licensed brands,” said Genesco licensed brands president Andy Gilbert. “We are looking forward to working with our partners at G-III to position the G.H. Bass brand as one of the premiere global lifestyle brands in the market today.”
G-III acquired G.H. Bass from PVH for $50 million in October 2013, and then licensed PVH for G.H. Bass sportswear in March 2014. G-III granted the European license for Bass footwear to U.K.-based Overland Ltd. last year.
