HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT NEXT WEEK’S PROJECT AND MRKET SHOWS
Fresh off UBM Fashion’s announced partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers (CFDA) for 2018, the tradeshow organization’s men’s shows Project and MRket will open on Sunday, January 21 and run through Tuesday, January 23 at the Javits Center in New York City.
The Foundry, a new neighborhood dedicated to the modern gentleman’s cultured point of view and aesthetic will exhibit a tasteful assortment of refined men’s apparel, purposeful objects, male grooming items, and inspiring home goods. Debut brands include Beltology, Daines & Hathaway, and Stolen Riches. The Foundry will continue its presence at the Project Las Vegas show.
Elevated environment The Tents will present a number of new talent including Frame, State Bags, KJUS, Troubadour and M. Singer, as well as inspiring collections from Faherty, Gilded Age, Res Ipsa, and Vince.
MRket will be showcasing neighborhood destinations including Brits in New York highlighting the best in British menswear, handmade footwear, and sartorial furnishings from Alan Paine Knitwear, Barbour, Alfred Sargent, Fox Umbrella and Chrysalis. And Made in Italy; the largest representation of Italian menswear at any U.S. trade fair from heritage Italian labels: Alfredo Rifugio Napoli, Eyelet Milano, Filippo De Laurentiis, Luciano Moresco and more.
Project Sole, New York’s only men’s contemporary footwear platform, will fuse a carefully merchandised section that will boast a roster of ever-expanding list of brands including Johnston & Murphy, Kenneth Cole, Lucchese, R.E. Tricker, Right Bank Shoe Co., and Trask.
Amongst new and buzzy initiatives this season, Swedish menswear publication Scandinavian Man will launch a curated destination of Scandinavian brands in partnership with Project, which includes brands CDLP, Project Twlv, Fillipa K and Sands Copenhagen, to name a few. The destination will also feature live storytelling, immersive photography and the discovery of international brands in a shop-able lounge. Extending the Scandinavian partnership, Volvo joins Project New York providing VIP retailers and media with car service to and from the show in the automobile maker’s premium XC90 SUVs.
“2018 is going to be a monumental year for UBM Fashion’s men’s brands. Leading with the CFDA partnership Project Men’s visibility will be felt on and off the trade show floor,” said Tommy Fazio, men’s fashion director at UBM Fashion. “Now, it is more important than ever to continue to cultivate the strong and emerging menswear brands on the U.S. and global scale and we are excited to announce that Project will present a preview of brands during NYFW: Men’s this February.”
Additional highlights of the show include: Move, a full lifestyle section of the show that highlights not only activewear, but also those brands that use performance as the core of their mission statements; Blue@Project, which serves as the destination for premium denim brands like 7 for all Mankind, DL1961, Rock Revival, Paige, Mavi, and more.
Trend forecasting service Fashion Snoops will hold a presentation on Monday, January 22 from 11 am to 12 pm in the Scandinavian Man lounge where Michael Fisher, vice president and creative director for menswear and culture, will present the fall/winter 2018 trends.
And, in partnership with The Doneger Group, Project will present “What Men Want: Lifestyle & Shopper Insights to Boost Menswear”, a presentation hosted by Roberto Ramos, senior vice president of strategy at The Doneger Group, with a Q&A to follow. Ramos will dive into lifestyle shifts, style preferences, as well as opportunities and recommendations for product development, branding and marketing with exclusive survey results at 2 pm on Monday, January 22 in the Scandinavian Man Lounge.
