J. Crew Adds Menswear to Madison Avenue Collection Store
By Erik DeFruscio
J. Crew is adding menswear to its women’s store on Madison Avenue. The menswear section will be in the downstairs of the Collection Store and will include shirting, suiting, knits and more.
The company held an event yesterday, May 7th, hosted by Frank Muytjens, J. Crew’s men’s designer, where customers could enjoy whiskey tasting and a free engraving on Harry’s Shave Kits.
The change to the store was due to demand: a large number of men coming into the store looking for product. The men’s department is across two rooms, separated by color palette. The first will hold neutrals and khakis and the rear will have jeans, indigo cardigans and garment-dyed tees.
Brands that will be sold in the new menswear section include Lacoste, Fred and Owen, Drake, Commes de Garcon, Maison Kistsune shirts, all of J. Crew’s pieces and a few pieces from J. Crew’s Wallace & Barnes brand.
J. Crew currently operates 24 men’s-only stores in the U.S., Europe and Canada. It has 283 stores overall.
