JEWELER NIGEL O’REILLY CELEBRATES 125 YEARS OF ABERFELDY SINGLE MALT SCOTCH
Ireland-based master goldsmith and jeweler Nigel O’Reilly and Aberfeldy Single Malt Scotch Whisky have collaborated on a fine men’s jewelry collection to celebrate the distillery’s 125th anniversary. Last week the two celebrated the collection with a party at Casa Cruz in New York City, which included a tasting of a limited edition 25-year-old limited edition bottling. Attendees were also given the chance to view the seven-piece capsule collection.
Born in rural Ireland to a farming family, O’Reilly became an engineer, working with a medical supplies manufacturer making high-precision heart valves. Seeking a more creative outlet, he trained under master goldsmiths Rudolf Heltzel and Erwin Springbrunn, and worked for jewelers Van Cleef, Stephen Webster, Boodles, Garrard, and Fabergé. In 2019, O’Reilly opened his studio and shop in County Mayo, Ireland. Drawing on his childhood ties to nature and rural Ireland, Nigel’s work brings in shapes and forms grounded in medieval jewelry and Gaelic imagery. With his engineering precision, Nigel pioneered a new approach to pavé work.
The Aberfeldy Collection includes the Pitilie Burn Ring and Aberfeldy Cufflinks, as well as the Talisman Pendant, DeVille Ring, Andromeda Cufflinks, and more. The collection retails from $38.75K to $336K.
Pitilie Burn Ring: Inspired by the pristine river Aberfeldy uses as its water source, this ring features ice-blue diamonds at the base, symbolizing the Pitilie Burn. The diamonds transform into warm earth tones, inspired by the Scottish Highlands. At its heart, a custom Madeira citrine captures Aberfeldy’s essence, while a honeycomb pattern pays homage to the brand’s distinctive rich-honeyed notes. ($74,000)
Aberfeldy Cufflinks: In 18-karat rose gold, these cufflinks echo the whisky glass you might sip Aberfeldy from. Madeira citrines grace each, with burnt orange diamonds along the rim, a nod to Aberfeldy’s rich hues. Engraved with ‘125’, they honor Aberfeldy’s 125 years of excellence. ($50,000)
