KNICKERBOCKER MELDS OLD-WORLD CRAFTSMANSHIP WITH ALL-AMERICAN STYLE FOR NEW HIKING BOOT CAPSULE

by John Russel Jones

New York-based brand and retailer Knickerbocker has tapped century-old Italian bootmaker Fracap to create two iterations of an iconic hiking boot. The low-top and high-top hiking boots launch Friday, November 4th on knickerbocker.nyc and the Knickerbocker Flagship located at 357 Canal Street in Manhattan.

The collection includes two styles, the KF101, a low-top hiker ($295), and the KF102, a take on the classic monkey boot silhouette ($350), each in two colorways/materials: black leather or brown suede.

Meant to be used for everyday city life as well as the outdoors, these designs combine strength and durability along with great comfort. The insole and lining are made from Italian calf leather so feet can breathe naturally. Each pair comes well equipped with hiking’s coveted Vibram sole and hand-selected Italian leather. The end product is a reliable shoe that works from the Italian Alps to the streets of New York.

Knickerbocker was established in 2013 with the intent of imagining how the brand could contribute to defining classic American style. They interpret this as a combination of timeless utility and lasting quality fused with exciting references from America’s many rich subcultures.

Fracap hails from Monteroni, a small town in the Puglia region of Italy where, in 1908, Antonio Cappello made his first shoe and established the family factory.
