LEVI’S AND AMBUSH RETURN WITH MOTO-INSPIRED COLLECTION

by John Russel Jones

Japanese brand Ambush, best known for its punk-infused, luxury-meets-streetwear approach to fashion, has returned for a second collaboration with American denim brand Levi’s for Spring/Summer 2023.

Ambush, which began as an experimental jewelry line, made its Paris debut in 2015, eventually evolving into a unisex apparel collection. Its founders, rapper Yoon and “it-girl” Verbal, were listed on Business of Fashion’s list of Top 500 people influencing the global fashion industry for five years in a row and made the Hypebeast 100 list for eight consecutive years. In 2022,  the brand presented its first runway show during Milan Fashion Week. The Tokyo-based label has done commissions and collaborations with European luxury houses and American streetwear brands alike.

The first installment of the Levi’s x Ambush collaboration was all about exploring Levi’s heritage through an Ambush lens. For Spring/Summer 2023, the second installment dives further into Ambush’s unique stylistic approach using Levi’s denim as a canvas. Composed of two gender-neutral pieces, the new collection features a denim jacket plus matching jeans and draws influence from motorcycle & biker culture.

The Levi’s x Ambush Biker Jacket ($450 retail) is inspired by classic cafe racer moto jackets and features a stand-up style collar with a snap-button latch, two chest pockets, two side pockets, and a No. 8 zip-front closure with a chunky Ambush zipper pull. The Levi’s x Ambush Biker Jean ($350) is a slim straight fit which also comes in a mid-indigo wash to match the jacket. It features front knee panel detailing plus an exposed No. 5 zipper front closure & branded Ambush zipper pull.

The Levi’s x Ambush collection launches worldwide on January 12th, 2023. Both items will be available for purchase on Levi’s and Ambush ecommerce venues, as well as in select stores.
