The talk around the virtual water cooler here at MR these days has been about how formalwear has been taking some interesting turns, both with a return to classic black-tie dressing, as well as to more casual expressions, and a (we think) healthy dose of gender-neutral, even feminine aesthetics. These are all observations that we’ve been having in preparation for shooting the formal fashion story we’ve got planned for our upcoming January issue, but all our trend-spotting came to reassuring fruition at last week’s 38th annual Fashion Group International (FGI) Night of Stars annual gala.
Held Thursday, October October 14th, at Casa Cipriani at Cipriani South Street, the event honored Michael Kors, Christian Siriano, LoveShackFancy, among others, including a Trailblazer Award presented to Dionne Warwick, and a posthumous Fashion Oracle Award presented to fashion icon Elvis Presley. Celebrities in attendance also included supermodel Iman, actors Mariska Hargitay and Linda Marshall, and authors Candace Bushnell and Deepak Chopra.
FGI President and CEO, Maryanne Grisz, said, “FGI Night of Stars is a celebration of extraordinary individuals in entertainment, fashion, beauty and culture. We are grateful to all who, by attending our most important fundraiser of the year, help Fashion Group International’s mission to connect, provide resources, support new talent, and celebrate the fashion industry at every level.”
FGI Night of Stars ticket proceeds will support the organization’s mission to connect, support, and empower members across the fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and retail sectors around the globe, through a range of educational and mentorship programs, signature events, networking opportunities, business resources, and philanthropic partnerships.
