Men’s Wearhouse U.S. Comps Rise 3.7% in June
NEW YORK – Men’s Wearhouse’s sales for fiscal June 2006 rose 9.2%, to $189.3 million, as comparable-store sales in the U.S. advanced 3.7% and those in Canada were up 4.7%.
With the addition of the June numbers, year-to-date sales are up 7.1%, to $781.5 million, with year-to-date comps ahead 3.4% in the U.S. and 4.9% in Canada.
As of July 1, MW operated 535 Men’s Wearhouse units in the U.S., 84 K&G units and, in Canada, 116 Moores men’s apparel stores, for a total of 735 units. The Houston-based company operated 711 units one year ago.
Also reporting June results on Wednesday, Hot Topic said June sales were up 8% during the month, to $61.4 million, but down 3.4% on a comp basis versus a 3.3% decline in June 2005. Zumiez qualified for double-digit comp honors with a store-for-store increase of 12.4% during the month as overall revenues rose 38.2% to $21.2 million.
