MR PORTER TO RELEASE NEW COLLECTION FOR ‘ROCKETMAN’ FILM

by Stephen Garner

Online menswear retailer Mr Porter has teamed up with acclaimed filmmaker Matthew Vaughn and luxury menswear label Kingsman on a new ‘costume to collection’ collaboration.

Titled ‘Rocketman by Kingsman’, the line has been developed with inspiration from the forthcoming musical fantasy film, Rocketman, in theaters in the U.S. on May 29th.

The 16-piece collection sits under Mr Porter’s in-house tailoring line Kingsman and follows a similar ‘costume to collection’ model as Mr Porter’s previous two capsule collaborations with Vaughn’s films, Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

The collection is inspired by the wardrobe of character John Reid, played by Richard Madden. It features two original Kingsman suits and a tuxedo jacket; three shirts, six ties and a pocket square by Kingsman + Turnbull & Asser; and a pair of boots from Kingsman + George Cleverley.

The film, which stars actors Taron Egerton, Richard Madden, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jamie Bell and Tate Donovan, is an epic musical fantasy following the uncensored story of Sir Elton John’s life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, to a global superstar. The film is directed by Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle) and produced by Vaughn (Layer Cake, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle) and David Furnish (Gnomeo and Juliet, Sherlock Gnomes).

The ‘Rocketman by Kingsman’ collection will be available exclusively on Mr Porter from May 29th, and will be featured in a special story in The Journal on May 30th.
