This One-Of-A-Kind Jacket Is A Genuine Work Of Art
Those of us who really love clothes can, on occasion, tend towards hyperbole. But it’s no exaggeration to say that the Huntsman dinner jacket currently being auctioned off to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association is a true work of art. Conceived in collaboration with the revered American artist Ed Ruscha, the silk lining of the jacket features a rendition Ruscha’s 1987 painting “Boy Meets Girl.” The process of creating it—from finding the right digital printer and cutting it to fit a jacket, to securing approval from the artist himself—took more than a year. Five “artist’s proofs” of the jacket were created. One, of course, went to Ruscha himself. His son Eddie Ruscha also got one, as did the actress Lauren Hutton, a longtime Huntsman client and the owner of the original “Boy Meets Girl.” The remaining two went to art dealer Larry Gagosian and Huntsman Chairman Pierre Lagrange.
